CHAMPAGNE SADI MALOT
Villers-Marmery & Verzy
The Sadi Malot Perspective
Champagne Sadi Malot today is very much the story of Cindy Malot and Florian Villière—a husband-and-wife team carrying forward a historic family estate while quietly reshaping its future. Rooted in Villers-Marmery since the late nineteenth century, the domaine has long been known for its Chardonnay from one of the Montagne de Reims' rare villages devoted primarily to the variety.
Since assuming leadership of the estate, Cindy and Florian have pursued a careful balance between preservation and progress. While honoring the classical style that defined Sadi Malot for generations, they have embraced greater parcel awareness, lower-intervention viticulture, and a sharper focus on expressing individual sites. This philosophy finds its fullest expression in Malot-Villière, the couple's more personal and exploratory label. Here, Cindy and Florian embrace longer élevage, lower dosage, alternative vessels such as concrete eggs, and a more transparent expression of individual sites. If Sadi Malot reflects the estate's history, Malot-Villière offers a glimpse of its future.
Few growers successfully honor their inheritance while genuinely advancing it. Cindy and Florian do both. Their wines stand at the intersection of tradition and modern grower Champagne—rooted in history, yet unmistakably forward-looking.
