CHAMPAGNE XAVIER ALEXANDRE

Courmas & Five Premier Cru Villages of the Montagne de Reims

The Alexandre Perspective

Champagne Xavier Alexandre represents a style of grower Champagne that is becoming increasingly uncommon: wines built through patience, blending expertise, and long élevage. Based in Courmas on the western edge of the Montagne de Reims, Xavier farms approximately 7 hectares spread across Courmas and a collection of Premier Cru villages including Vrigny, Dizy, Champillon, Ville-Dommange, and Coulommes-la-Montagne. For a grower of this size, the breadth of terroir is unusual and provides the foundation for wines of remarkable complexity and balance.

The Alexandre family has farmed these vineyards since 1933. Today, Xavier carries that legacy forward with a philosophy grounded in precision and balance. Vineyard work is meticulous, cellar practices are restrained, and ageing is measured in years rather than months. His wines are never rushed, allowing texture, complexity, and harmony to emerge naturally over time.

This philosophy reaches its fullest expression in wines such as Signature A, a Champagne shaped by extensive barrel ageing, more than a decade on lees, and a commitment to preserving freshness while building depth. The result is a collection of wines that combine power with elegance, offering richness without heaviness and structure without austerity. These are Champagnes built not for immediacy, but for depth.

In a Champagne landscape increasingly focused on reduction and minimal intervention, Xavier Alexandre remains devoted to craftsmanship in its classical sense. His wines remind us that complexity is not something added to a wine—it is something patiently earned.

Perlage Note

What first drew us to Xavier Alexandre was the confidence of the wines. They are not built around novelty or trend, but around the timeless virtues of great Champagne: patience, balance, and depth. Few growers today are willing to wait as long or work as meticulously in pursuit of those qualities.

The best cuvées at Xavier Alexandre possess a richness and complexity that call to mind the great gastronomic Champagnes—wines designed not merely for celebration, but for the table. They are generous without excess, powerful without heaviness, and deeply satisfying from the first sip to the last. For those who appreciate Champagnes of substance and character, Xavier Alexandre occupies a place all his own.
